GSC At Hanford

JUNE 27, 2010 –--This week we raced the Golden State Challenge series at the re-energized Kings Speedway in Hanford. Kings is one of the most storied tracks in the nation and it is nice to see the old place fixed-up and with new and quality management. This week our friend and long-time crew member Brian Poe was back in our pit. Brian did not make the Oregon swing and we missed him.

We had 26 cars on hand and the weather was hot…in the high 90’s. The track was drying-out rather quickly and Evan went out to qualify tenth.

We did not do a very good job and we qualified thirteenth and missed the eight car invert by a ton. It was our failure, no excuses.

Ev started his heat race on the pole and slipped to fifth by the time the checkered flew but we transferred to the Main and avoided the B feature.

Starting the main in thirteenth and having all the “good guys” up front was going to be a challenge but because of persistence and a little Richard Brown magic Evan finished eighth some thirty laps later.

This week, the 4th of July weekend, we race on Sunday at Chico’s Silver Dollar Speedway. It is going to be very hot and we plan on being hotter! We have a little momentum and the plan is to build on it!

Our new A.R.T. chassis came out of the jig last week and we hope to have it home and ready for our return to 360 racing at the next Taco Bravo event at Watsonville on the sixteenth.

Suggs Family Racing wants to thank “Carwash” Mike Avilla for his continued support….we appreciate the help.

Lastly, we have our new T shirts. Kenny Gonzales, “Gonz” delivered them to the track and we think they look awesome. Drop by the trailer; we’d love you to part with $15 of your dollars!

Thanks for checking in and we hope to see you Sunday at Chico
