JULY
27, 2009 –- This weekend marked the 20th and 21st rounds of the Golden State Challenge King of California Series. Friday night went pretty well as Evan qualified 11th of 31 cars and transferred out of his heat and in to the dash. Finishing 3rd in the dash gave him a starting spot of 3rd in the main and that is where he finished, just behind Tyler Walker and Jonathon Allard. This was Evan’s second podium in the last 3 GSC Series races.
We thought we may have a little momentum but it did not carry forward enough on Saturday night. Evan qualified 8th and started in the 3rd row of his heat. Unfortunately on the fast one lane track passing was at a minimum and he did not transfer which relegated him to the B Main. Ev started 5th in the B and finished 3rd…..good enough to get his qualifying time back behind the invert.
On the start of the main a wheelie caused Evan to lose several positions and while racing his way back he was run over from the back, blowing-out the right rear. This was quickly changed in the work area with the help of crew from the 00 and 24 cars. Restarting in the rear and with a replacement tire that was not up to the task Evan was unable to advance much and finished in the 13th spot.
This Friday we have GLR race number eight at Watsonville’s beautiful Ocean Speedway and then Saturday we travel north to Petaluma Speedway for round 22 of the 24 event Golden State challenge Series.
Please drop by and see us and say hello. We have $10 T-shirts that are bound to make you look ten years younger.
Thanks for checking in.
