Watsonville
& Tulare Weekend
|

JUNE
17, 2009 –--The weekend was kind of a mixed bag. Friday night was another round of the GLR 360 Series at Watsonville’s Ocean Speedway. There were 25 cars and Evan qualified an uncharitably slow time and wound-up 18th. No excuses and no explanation!
This put Ev in a hole for the rest of the night. He missed the invert but managed to finish 3rd in his heat. Starting in the 9th row is not what you want but 30 laps later Evan wound up 7th……….just good enough to keep a share of the points lead.
The next day took us to the boiling (106 degrees) Tulare Thunderbowl for the latest round of the Golden State Challenge. Again there were 25 cars and Evan qualified a much better 5th even though he took the track near the end of time trials.
The heat race went well finishing 2nd and we were qualified for the Dash. Ev started the dash 6th and in the first turn the left front shock came off the axle and he was forced to hang on for seventh which would be his starting spot in the main.
The main simply did not work out for us and Evan was black flagged after a second spin. A painful evening for sure. No excuses.
This week we travel north to Chico’s Silver Dollar Raceway. Another hot-spot but a storied and racy track with a terrific bunch of fans.
We hope to see you there and appreciate that you have once again checked in. We hope to give you a better report next week.
See you at the races……..
