Suggs Resets Watsonville Track Record!

APRIL 25, 2009 –-- Saturday night took the Golden State Challenge-King of California Series to Watsonville’s chilly but beautiful Ocean Speedway for round five of the 24 race 410 series. Twenty one cars were present including former Outlaws Jonathan Allard, Tyler Walker and Brad Furr along with Hall of Famer, Brent Kaeding.

Evan was 6th to go out for time-trials and was quick-time with a stunning 11:758 which reset the track record held for years by Mark Kinser. This was Evan’s 3rd GSC quick-time of the year and 2nd track record out of five races.

Starting 4th in his heat, Evan finished there on the narrow track. The 5 pill was drawn for the dash and the pattern continued as he finished in the same position.

Starting 5th in the feature insured a good starting spot but with Walker, Allard, BK, and Jason Statler ahead of you progress would be difficult. Racing well, dodging wrecks and overcomming lap cars on the tight quarter mile resulted in a respectable, dammage free 6th place finish.

Next Saturday we travel to Steve Faria’s very fast Thunderbowl in Tulare. This is not a track where Evan has had great success but he is up to the challenge and looks forward to getting more laps there. As Brent Kaeding says, Tulare is not a place that you easily master.

In two weeks on Friday we race round three of the very competitive GLR Investments 360 series at Ocean Speedway and then travel the next day to Chico for the Hoserville-supported Dave Bradway Memorial, one of our favorite races of the year in a very competitive environment.

Thanks for reading and hope to see you at the Thunderbowl.
