APRIL
11, 2009 –--
This week, the third stop on the 2009 Golden State Challenge trail found us at Steve Faria’s Thunder Bowl. The famous high-banked 3/8 track was groomed about as well as we have ever seen Tulare. Even with a full field of Bandits and a huge turnout of
Modifieds it stayed smooth and never dried out. Evan was 4th out to qualify and ran two solid laps with the second being quick time of the night with a 12.008 giving him a qualifying average of third quick so far for the GSC season
Starting 6th in the heat race and finishing 5th ensured a spot in the dash. After drawing the number seven Evan stated in the back row of the dash and finished 8th meaning that is where he would start the feature.
The A Main started reasonably well with the top seemingly working. This went away about 12 laps in and with a car that did not seem to want to run anywhere else spots were lost leading to a finish many places back from where we wanted to be.
About the best thing Evan could walk away with was his second quick time of the new season and added seat time at the very tricky Thunderdome. “We’ll get ‘em next week” was the word in the truck as we made the four hour tow back to Scotts Valley. Congratulations to the ever tough Tim Kaeding, this weeks winner.
This Friday we will be running race two of the Ocean Speedway 360 winged series and then up to Petaluma Saturday night for round four of the Golden State Challenge.
Hope to see you there. Drop by and see us.
Thanks for checking in.
